Western Bulk is seeking an intern to join the Vessel Optimisation Team in Oslo.
The team is responsible for providing relevant advice on vessel performance and ensuring value-added use of data and experience in selecting the right vessels for the right price and ensuring the optimal utilisation of each vessel.

As a data scientist, I am working with data and the latest algorithms and technology tools to sustain a commercial edge in a highly competitive and global shipping market.

As an operations manager, I am responsible for the daily operational management and voyage planning of our chartered vessels. We work to ensure efficient communication between customers, ship owners, agents, captains and other stakeholders in order to streamline the voyage to maximize profit.
Calculated, confident and swift problem solving is essential in order to mitigate problems and control costs. We are required to negotiate and manage relationships in order to find the best deals and capitalize on the terms fixed in our contracts.
As a chartering manager, I am responsible for sourcing ships to our cargoes or vica versa. It is frequently a high intensity job which connects me to people and cultures all over the world.

Head of bunkers and derivatives
As head of bunkers and derivatives, I ensure that our fleet is supplied with high quality fuel at competitive prices and terms. We trade derivatives for fuel and Freight (FFA).
I enjoy being with Western Bulk as we are in the forefront of our industry, constantly opening doors to new opportunities and challenges.
As a risk analyst, I ensure that we maintain a thorough understanding of how we are exposed to the market, counterpart and operational risks, and advice on how to manage our exposures.
What I like about my job is that I have to utilize a broad set of skills to systematically identify and monitor risk the Company might be exposed to in order to assist in reducing vulnerabilities.
As a claims manager, I’m responsible for claims handling and providing business advice to commercial teams in relation to assigned claims, Charterparties, insurance and general legal queries. I’m working with commercial teams and liaising with P&I Club, external lawyers, correspondents, etc… to ensure the most efficient and cost effective resolution of all assigned claims as well as to provide solution to mitigate costs and prevent operations suffering disruption in the event of a dispute.
